Halo-Maker Bungie Snags Paul McCartney To Compose Music For Destiny Franchise

The house that Halo built, Bungie, is working with Paul McCartney of The Beatles, who is composing new music for Destiny, the codename for the upcoming videogame franchise that Bungie is working on. Announced the ex-Beatle via Sir Paul McCartney's Twitter.

Bungie, of course, is no longer associated with Halo or Microsoft and the Xbox 360, having moved on to they-hope greener pastures with an all-new franchise that has yet to be announced or revealed. However it was ousted thanks to a legal battle between Activision and Call of Duty developers Jason West and Vince Zampella.

Revealed was a contract that Activision signed with Bungie for an upcoming project called "Destiny", which would see Bungie creating a series of four Massively Multiplayer-style sci-fi fantasy action shooting games; with a new game hitting every other year with yearly expansions (codenamed Comet) filling in the gaps. The contract however is old, dated 2010, and the project was to begin in 2013. Whether or not all of this is still the case remains to be seen, and project-details, target release date and even platforms have yet to be revealed.

However this story will certainly draw the interest of Halo fans and thus Xbox 360 owners given that it is Bungie we are talking about.

Due to Paul McCartney working on the next Bungie project, you are almost insured that the music will be a huge part of the game. Paul McCartney tweeted that he is excited to work with Bungie, the studio that made Halo, to write new music for the game.

Sir Paul McCartney isn't super familiar with videogames, but he has worked on them in the recent past thanks to The Beatles: Rock Band, and says that he thinks the medium is exciting, and a good way to bring new music to new people outside of the music world; although he doesn't play videogames himself. He is 70 years old, after all.

Here's a The Beatles: Rock Band video review by GameSpot.
